Questions people ask before they start
How many customers do I need to double my revenue?
Divide the revenue you want by your average ticket, then subtract the customers you already serve. Doubling revenue on volume alone means doubling customers. Improving all three levers by about 26 percent each also doubles revenue, because the levers multiply rather than add.
How do I calculate customer acquisition cost?
Divide everything you spend in a month to win customers, including ads, listings and referral fees, by the number of customers you won that month. If you spend 600 dollars and win 38 customers, your cost per customer is about 16 dollars.
What is a good LTV to CAC ratio for a small business?
Below 2 to 1 is thin and gets dangerous when costs move. Around 3 to 1 works. Above 5 to 1 usually means you are underspending on growth, because a channel returning five dollars for every one is worth scaling rather than budgeting.

Revenue is three numbers multiplied together: how many customers you serve, what each one spends, and how often they come back. This calculator takes your real figures and tells you how many more customers stand between where you are now and the month you actually want.
It also works out your cost per customer, your effective hourly rate, and which of the twenty stages of building a business you have already finished. Nothing is gated. You get the full answer whether or not you ever hire anyone.
The terms it uses
- Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC)What one new customer costs you to win. Most owners have never calculated it.
- Average TicketWhat a typical customer or job brings in before costs.
- Customer Lifetime Value (LTV)Everything one customer pays you over the whole relationship.
- Repeat RateThe share of customers who had bought from you before. The third lever.
- LTV to CAC RatioWhether spending more on growth is brave or reckless.
- Conversion RateHow many people who find you actually buy.
- Payback PeriodHow long until a new customer has paid back what they cost to acquire.
- Effective Hourly RateWhat an hour of your own time is actually worth to the business.
